The 2023 Grade 9 Girls Basketball Provincial Championships is sponsored by BC Secondary Schools Girls Basketball Association and hosted by the Heritage Woods Kodiaks. Dates: February 23rd - 25th, 2023 Venues: Heritage Woods Secondary $500 - Tournament Fee Deadlines: Feb 11th - Submit registration via email for any teams interested in participating. Feb 14th - All rosters, school logo and team photos due to [email protected]. Please use this roster template. Q: How do we know if we have qualified for Provincial Championships?
A: The distribution of berths to the Grade 9 Girls Provincial Championship will be determined based on # of participating teams in each region. Berths will be distributed using the breakdown below (TBA). "At Large" berths can be applied for by sending your full season schedule and results to [email protected] on one page by Feb. 17th @ 9AM. We will be using strength of schedule and results against top teams in determining the final berths.

Q: Which school teams are eligible to participate?
A: Schools must have their team registered with BC School Sports at the Grade 9 Girls Basketball level to participate in the Provincials.
Q: Would Grade 9 players who have played Junior games be eligible?
A: Only players registered on a Grade 9 Girls Basketball team with BC School Sports are deemed eligible to participate in the Grade 9 Provincials, regardless of the number of Junior games they've played in. If players are in the 9th grade but are registered with BCSS at the Junior Girls level, they will not be eligible to participate.
Q: Which set of rules are we playing with?
A: We understand that every league and zone associations adhere to their own policies especially at the Bantam and Juvenile levels. The Basketball BC Grade 9 Girls Championships will use modified FIBA high school rules with four 8 min stop time quarters, 10 sec backcourt and a 30 sec shot clock. No restrictions on defense. The Greater Vancouver Basketball Officials Association shall provide all officials for the Championships.
Q: Where will the event be held?
A: Games will be played at Heritage Woods Secondary and Eagle Mountain Middle School.
Q. How many games are teams guaranteed?
A: All teams will be guaranteed 3 games. For teams finishing 11th - 16th, you will play 3 games. All other placings will play 4 games. If you lose your first two games, you will play the minimum 3 games.
